Milieu Design Group's Kids Craft Suite

March 9, 2011

Martha Stewarts Dreamers into Doers is a Community filled with amazingly talented women. Last fall we met Margaret Norcott, Principal of Milieu Design Group through Dreamers into Doers. Her work is flawless and fabulous. We were totally smitten with this Kids Craft Suite she designed for the Atlanta Symphony Show House and Gardens. We knew we had to share it with you.

Be prepared to be inspired. And enjoy …

Did you see the color pencil mural.....And the window seat storage.

Really, Can you imagine having this in your home? Our kids would never want or need to leave their playrooms if they looked. Every Detail is perfection.

Now we want to run out and redecorate our Playrooms.

We told you it was Stunning.

This amazing space has been featured on Living Locurto, Project Nursery, and The Daily Decorator Blog, just to name a few. Honestly all things MDG creates are fabulous and Eye Catching. In fact their Beverly Hillbillies set from The Next Cool Thing Event has been invited to be showcased in The Atlanta Home Show. And Margaret will be speaking there too.

Off to color, paint, cut, sew and craft (we were inspired) by this space.

Rainbow Crayon Holder

March 3, 2011

When I saw this idea from Mom's Crafty Space floating around on the Internet, I(Amy) knew I had to make it for our Rainbow Play date! Our kiddos are really into coloring right now and we, as always, are into organization. We just love how clean and pretty the crayons in our house now look sitting on a shelf in each of our kids playrooms. This crayon holder was so simple and Savvy to make! It also is a great way for your kids to learn their colors and a little organization too!
Supplies Needed:

1- 1x3 piece of wood

6 tin cups (I used a box of Del Monte fruit cups)

Spray Paint in all colors of the Rainbow (Acrylic Paint will work too)

6 screws and Drill

Steps:

1. Paint your 1x3 white and let dry. (or any color you like)

2. Soak your fruit cups and peel off labels and left over glue (I just dumped all the fruit out into one large container to eat later)

3. Spray Paint your cups. This way is faster and easier but if you do not have all colors of the rainbow, acrylic paint works fine on these cups too.

4. Once dry, set on top of your 1x3 space them apart evenly and screw down in place.

So simple. So Savvy. So Fun!!!!

{Feature Friday} Spaceships and Laser Beams Snakes and Snails Brunch Time Dessert Table

March 4, 2011

This Fun Friday Feature was sent to us by Stephanie of Spaceships and Laser Beams You may remember we featured their truly classic 'Vintage Car Collection' back in October. We just love their newest birthday collection, 'Snakes and Snails'. Stephanie created this spectacular "brunch time" dessert table.

Spaceships and Laserbeams is a one of a kind printable site that they only sell boys/gender neutral supplies. Stephanie mentioned that she gets so many comments about people not thinking that boys parties can be as beautiful as girls parties. So Stephanie wanted to do something to show that this isn't the case. And WOW!! did she prove those wrong!!!! In addition, the Snakes and Snails theme is for the younger set. The thought behind this table was to be able to show how you could have a sweets table for the brunch-time party first birthday party. Typically, there are more adults than kids at first birthdays so Stephanie thought it would be a great option. The birthday details could also be easily swapped out for a baby shower.

We just love how the pinwheels are carried from the backdrop to the table and placed in the sweet cinnamon rolls.

Yummy Carrot muffins in Grass Cupcake Wrappers

Food Labels always add fun and color to your table.

Cake bunting is a huge party trend and their coordinating party circles make it easy to create this as a your cake topper.

These adorable party hats can be dressed up with coordinating colors of ric-rac and scraps of fabric.

A great party favor are these green apples with 'Thank You' tags attached with twine. Simple & Sweet.
Here are some Savvy Things about this Collection and Spaceships and Laserbeams

Spaceships & Laser Beams is an Etsy collective of friends. They sell DIY printable party supplies just for boys. They like to say "Consider us a no princess zone. The 'Snakes and Snails' collection, like all collections, was created by a professional graphic designer
All of the beautiful illustrations are 100% original and drawn by hand, they won't be found anywhere else
Each piece in the Snakes and Snails Collection can be purchased individually or as part of a Party Kit
